Cradoc's Savoury Biscuits

Cradoc's Savoury Biscuits

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND CRADOC'S SAVOURY BISCUITS?

Cradoc's began back in 2008, baking biscuits and munching through them with friends and family. Fed up with the boring, cardboard-like crackers that were on offer for pairing with delicious cheeses, we had to think of something that would do their lovely flavours some justice. I think we all enjoyed that phase, doing the creative work and trialling the recipes. It took far longer than we thought it would, to get a convincing range of flavours together. It took two years to learn to bake biscuits commercially and invent a range of products which hung together well, had integrity and people loved. But we got there in the end and are extremely proud of what we have created.

WHAT MAKES YOUR CRACKERS DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS ON THE MARKET?

As a rule we choose not to use sugar as an ingredient so the clue is in the title - we’d rather blend vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs to flavour our savoury biscuits and crackers, naturally. We always say they are good enough to give to little kids- no harmful chemicals or additives, just simple baking. This year we celebrate our 10th year - we’ve baked nearly a million crackers -So we must be doing something right!

WHAT’S NEXT FOR CRADOC'S AND THE TEAM?

Cradoc's exported right from the start of our journey, and we export loads to Canada and Germany, Czech Republic and our best developed distribution is in Portugal. We are now looking at China this year…… we must be crackers! We’re also selling all over the UK, and are stocked in Fortnum and Mason, Harvey Nichols and lots of the very best Deli's in Britain. The business is growing fast – so watch this space!!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE CRADOC'S IN 3 WORDS?

Cradoc's Savoury Biscuits

“In the heart of the Brecon Beacons, looking right across the valley to the stunning Pen y Fan mountain, lies this lovely little bakery. Mother and daughter duo Allie & Ella lovingly combine fresh vegetables, herbs and spices to create a colourful range of original flavours to suit any occasion. We find that cheese and wine work well with these delights!”

Cradoc’s is a tiny garden bakery with three staff baking, packing, nibbling and munching (jokin’ I am) delicious savouries five days a week! Our home market is our focus and we sell widely in Wales and England.  We offer five cracker flavours, very distinct and designed for specific styles of cheese, perfect for pairing with anything deliciously savoury from the deli counter. Great for hampers and gifting.

We also bake seasonal and exceptional crackers which we will snap and post when available.

We are small – very small but extremely efficient and we’ve found this works for us. We sell to national wholesalers and farm shops, delis and food halls, as well as direct to you at the very best festivals.

We love thinking about, gobbling, tasting and testing food here at Cradoc Road.  That’s how we kicked off this little business, by baking vegetable crackers that married well with Welsh cheeses and charcuterie and all the other lovely produce we in Wales are lucky to find in food assemblies and farmers markets up and down the Principality.

We just make crackers – nothing else!

I think we are pretty good at it now and I hope you will give them a try.
