Our Story

A home-grown success story, beekeeper Scott Davies started the business in his parents’ kitchen with a £5,000 overdraft in 2011. The business was born at the family farm in Newtown, Powys, after Scott sustained an unfortunate back injury and was unable to return to his career in the building trade. As a source of recuperation, his parents bought him his first hive for Christmas, sparking his intrigue and fascination with bees and honey production. From his back garden, Scott nurtured his first hive of bees and hand made his first batch of honey.

Scott sold his first jars to a local shop and within a week all the jars had been sold with people in the local community amazed at the taste. This set Scott on his mission to make his honey more readily available and so the Hilltop Honey brand blossomed.

Seven years later, Scott has an extensive knowledge of the honey market, he has perfected his skills and has achieved many prestigious awards. Scott and his dedicated team now supply a range of speciality honeys, bee pollen and cut comb to major retailers, independent retailers, health stores, delis, food service, chefs and export to many international customers. The business produces around 70,000 jars of honey each month – that’s almost enough to fill the Principality Stadium!
