The growth of Monty’s from a small, family run start-up to an established enterprise, exporting beers all over the world has been a fast paced and exciting journey. It all began in June 2008 when the seeds were first sown by owners Pam & Russ Honeyman, when over a quiet pint they pondered “shall we build a brewery?” Soon after Pam returned from a 3 week Brewlab course at Sunderland University with a plan and a recipe, the first casks were produced. Since then, Monty’s Brewery has won many National and International awards over the years.[less]
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER BREWERIES?We believe that our offering of gluten free ales is a welcomed point of difference from a number of breweries out there. But in addition to our production of the finest beers, we also have a busy visitor centre where we offer talks and tastings, where customers can gain a deeper understanding of the brewing process, as well as the opportunity to purchase our delicious products. As well as the visitor centre, we also have a unique, state of the art development brewery that can be observed from a viewing platform. Here we create new recipes, produce experimental one-off brews and research the flavour profiles of the latest hop varieties, all of which are available to purchase at the visitor centre for a truly exclusive, one-off experience.
WHAT ARE MONTY’S BREWERY’S KEY VALUES?First and foremost, it is to produce consistently great quality bottle conditioned beers of various styles to suit all. All of our Monty's Beers are brewed with taste, flavour and satisfaction in mind. But we also place a great focus on being sustainable and we feed one of our by-products, the yeasty first runnings, to a herd of Welsh Wagyu cattle - who drink around 3 pints of Monty’s a day! What would be a waste product goes into producing one of the world’s great tasting meats. In addition to this, we are also passionate about giving back to our communities and our customers. We produce the official beer for Offa’s Dyke Path, and for every pint or bottle we sell, we donate to the upkeep of the path that runs from Prestatyn in the north all the way to Sedbury in the south. We also donate 5p from every pint sold of our ‘Desert Rats’ ale to SSAFA, who provide support for UK forces and their families, which we think is a great cause.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR MONTY’S BREWERY?In 2018, Monty’s will be showcasing at Taste of London in Regent’s Park, so we’re all very excited about that. We will also continue to focus on our brewing and running our visitor centre and developing our range of crafted beers.
